POP3 IMAP E-mail Accounts
There are a few kinds of e-mail accounts out there - find out more about their pros and cons.
If you’ve got a domain and a hosting account for it, you’ll be able to create mailboxes for personal or commercial purposes and to set them up with email apps such as Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird. During the process, you’ll be able to pick one of the two most popular email protocols – IMAP or POP3. The first one will allow you to check all messages, but they will stay on the mail server, whereas with the second one, all messages will be downloaded to the device where the mailbox is configured, unless you explicitly select a copy to be left on the server. Thus, you can choose if you want all your electronic communication to be kept on one single device, or if you’d rather be able to view the emails from various locations. The latter option is very valuable for firms where different employees working on different computers need access to a given email account.

During the setup process, you can pick between the POP3 and the IMAP protocols, as we support both, so you can choose which one to rely on depending on your preference and the purpose of your account – you may choose to download all email messages if you have a personal account and to leave the emails on the server – in case you’ve got a business account, for example. The Email Manager tool, which is included in our in-house built Hepsia hosting Control Panel, allows you to download and run a small-sized file, so as to set up a mailbox with an email software program – Thunderbird, Apple Mail or Outlook.
